SDCC 2016: General Hotel Sale Moves to Random Waiting Room System

San Diego Comic-Con General Hotel Sale will take place on April 5 at 9AM PT.

However, the biggest news coming out today is that the sale is undergoing a re-vamp. The system will utilize a random waiting room for onPeak (who merged with Travel Planners), similar to EPIC Registration Waiting Room’s process.

Attendees will be e-mailed a link to onPeak’s system at least 48 hours prior to the sale (and you’ll also be able to access the URL on CCI’s site), and then be able to enter the room between 6AM-9AM PT on Tuesday, April 5, at which point they will be randomly sorted and then let through to fill out the form for their hotel preferences. You’ll also be able to call at 1-877-55-COMIC.

Once you get through, you’ll see the form – which we expect to be similar to last year’s form – where you’ll rank your six hotel choices, in order of preference. Requests will then be processed based on the order they are received – so there’s still some element of speed to the process, in addition to the randomization. According to the official FAQ, this was done, “to ensure fairness in the request and placement process”.

onPeak will let you know no later than April 8 which hotel you’ve been placed at, and you’ll have 72 hours to confirm your reservation with a 2-night deposit. Deposits are refundable for cancellations before April 30, 2016.

Also new this year, hotel rates include an $8.00 per night reimbursement to Comic-Con to help defray shuttle and convention costs (this charge is subject to change).

The General Hotel Sale is the biggest hotel sale for San Diego Comic-Con, because it’s when the hotels closest to the action (the Gaslamp District downtown, as well as several hotels by the airport and in Mission Valley that are on the shuttle list) become available to attendees at a special, discounted con rate (ranging from $178/night for one person at the Days Hotel – Hotel Circle by Seaworld, up to $384/night for the Andaz San Diego). You can view the entire list of all 50+ hotels, including prices, by clicking here.

Last year’s sale was basically an unmitigated disaster and likely the reason for these changes — with some attendees’ forms not loading correctly, some having the page take nine minutes to load at all, some receiving roommates who they had never heard of, some receiving multiple reservations, and a whole slew of other issues. We can only hope that this year’s sale runs smoother.

If you’re still considering booking an Early Bird hotel room, you have until the morning of April 5 to do so. You can check out our comparison of the two hotel sales here.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

Star Wars

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

Basically, the ultimate winner of Comic Con. They just crushed it. Even if they hadn’t had that concert after their panel, the love still would have been palpable.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

The footage was so great, and it was all anybody could talk about. The shot of Deadpool shooting through three heads at once was THE shot of the con.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

We loved both Lucifer and Damien, two new TV shows about the Prince of Darkness. And we had a lot of fun running into pro-Satan protestors who were up against the Jesus protestors, and also finding pro-Satan religious pamphlets scattered everywhere.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

This show based on the Bradley Cooper movie was just great. People were buzzing about it all weekend.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

We finally saw some footage, and OMG. Duncan Jones is clearly going all-out to get this right. Also, the display of giant statues and gear was to die for.

Ash Vs. Evil Dead

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

This panel had one of the longest lines that wasn’t for Hall H, and everyone seemed to feel it was totally worth it to see new footage—and Bruce Campbell! People were so pumped.

The Expanse

This Syfy series is based on incredible books by James S.A. Corey, so it had a lot to live up to. But we saw the first episode, and it really was spectacular. They’re doing everything right, and the love for this show was everywhere.

Women Who Kick Ass

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

Everywhere we looked, female heroes were rocking out, from Hunger Games toSupergirl. And the Women Who Kick Ass panel was one of the best panels at the show. More than ever, everybody was accepting that female badassery is just a normal part of our heroic narratives.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

Zombies ruled Comic-Con. The Walking Dead launched its spinoff, Fear the Walking Dead, and the first episode was great. Plus these shows OWNED the floor. And even though there was no Zombie Walk this year, Zombies were everywhere.

Con Man

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

This webseries with Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk was all people could talk about, because the love for fandom was so apparent, and it looks like so much fun.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

This virus outbreak show screened its whole pilot, and people were laughing during the serious parts. In general, this CW show seemed to generate very little excitement, sadly.

T.H.U.N.D.E.R Agents

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

There was a lot of excitement going into Comic-Con, because this classic comic book had scheduled a panel during a primetime slot, promising to announce a new TV and movie franchise. We were told Hollywood A-listers would be there. And then… the panel was canceled, with zero fanfare. Just deleted from the schedule, as if it was never there.

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!1

People were seriously mocking this “tattooed naked lady with amnesia is covered with clues” show, and you saw her naked body everywhere you looked. We love Jaime Alexander, but nobody seemed to think this mystery-procedural show looked good.

Minority Report

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

We weren’t the only ones who thought this show based on the Spielberg movie looked like a misfire. We saw lots of negative reviews of the footage screened, and a general lack of excitement for what should have been a thrilling idea.

The DC Cinematic Universe

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

With Marvel not showing up this year, DC had a chance to make a big splash. They could have brought out the entire Justice League on stage, or broken some big news. Instead, it was just some neat new footage, and not much else. Huge wasted opportunity.

Jared Leto

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!2345

In general, people seemed to like the Suicide Squad footage. But we interviewed fans leaving Hall H at the end of the day, and one common note was that Jared Leto’s Joker was a bust. There was a lot of disgruntlement with his version of Mr. J.

Kevin Smith

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!6

He really needed to get people pumped about his Canadian monster movie, Yoga Hosers. Unfortunately, Star Wars took everybody out of Hall H to go to a concert, and his panel was a
disaster through no fault of his own.

Fantastic Four

The Biggest Winners And Losers Of Comic-Con 2015!

After seeing that insane Deadpool and X-Men footage, who even remembered having seen Fantastic Four stuff as well? They had a last chance to spark some fan interest in this new movie, and it just didn’t happen. The fact that the trailer included dialogue like “If we do this, we’re doing it my way” didn’t help.

So there you have it:

Watch The Full Game Of Thrones Panel From SDCC

Game of Thrones had a panel at this years SDCC in the infamous Hall H, hosted by late-night television star Seth Meyers and filled with cast members from the series. Now the HBO phenomenon based on the novels of George R R Martin has released a video of the panel for fans that didn’t see it live.

Season 6 of Game Of Thrones is in production now.

SDCC 2015 – Heroes Reborn

Heroes is coming back this fall to NBC and to help get people hyped for the series premiere NBC had an amazing interactive experience at San Diego Comic Con.

I purposely didn’t read anything online so I could be surprised by the whole event. It ended up being way cooler than I even anticipated. I was under the assumption that the whole experience would simply be a first look at exclusive footage from the new show as well as some other goodies like props, both of which were present, but it was much more than just that. The bulk of the experience was an interactive game wherein participants would practice using their new found pyrokinesis abilities. At first just practicing but eventually using the powers to break out of the testing facility. The experience itself lasts only about 2 minutes but it’s incredibly fun and for some it can definitely be a light arm workout. Not to mention you get a cool motion poster of yourself demonstrating your powers at the end!

No filming or livestreaming any footage ……I was so excited to see footage before anything gets leaked as well as curious as to how NBC is going to handle the return of one of its most successful shows.

Video game and prequel

Before the panel started they announced that Heroes will be getting a video game for mobile tablets, and we also found out there is a prequel coming to the Heroes: Reborn app. The prequel is going to cover what happened between the end of Heroes and the beginning ofHeroes: Reborn, answering many questions in that five-year gap.

They played a trailer for the prequel that showed a girl showing her brother her powers, who approves and called her an “evo.” That’s their name now, so be sure to get used to that term!

The prequel is called Heroes: Reborn, Dark Matters and will follow one of the main characters of the original series over the five year gap.  His sister begins to develop superpowers and he documents her emerging abilities.  In the series, this character is a conspiracy theorist that tracks down Noah Bennet to learn about his Primatech past.

What we now from Tim Kring

When asked what’s different about the show, creator Tim Kring said, “The show, first and foremost, is about characters and it’s not about the super powers but the characters and dealing with their abilities. That being said, there are things that got a lot easier to do — special effects are being done on set with a laptop, cameras are lighter. Last time we only filmed in Los Angeles this time we shot in Iceland, Canada, LA, Tokyo, Paris.”

The show will pick up 5 years after they left off, when they ended with Claire Bennett exposing the powers to the public. Her announcement changed the world, so we’ll get to see the aftermath of that twist.

My name is Claire Bennet and this is my X attempt videos

This spurs other evos to come out of the woodwork and make similar videos.  The widespread, public emergence causes a backlash, which leads to the registration, marginalization, and eventual wide scale persecution of superpowered individuals.

Returning from the first series are Jack Coleman as HRG/Noah Bennet, Greg Grunberg as Matt Parkman, Christine Rose as Angela Petrelli, Jimmy Jean Louis as The Haitian, Sendahil Ramamurthy as Mohinder Suresh, and Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura.

Heroes: Reborn’ premieres Thursday, September 24 at 8 p.m. eastern

SDCC 2015: Hawkman To Appear In DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow

Geoff Johns revealed during the WBTV panel tonight that along with Hawkgirl (Ciara Renee) we will also get to see Hawkman in DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow. But no casting has been made.

There will be some table setting during the first half of the season in both Arrow and The Flash like revealing that Ray Palmer / The Atom survived the season finale and bringing Sara Lance back to life. Caity Lotz pointed out that no one comes out of theLazarus Pit they same as they went in. The character has no fear of death which gives her a reckless abandon.

And as for Vandal Savage… being that he is immortal, the team will face in in multiple eras while trying to figure out how to stop someone who can’t die.

SDCC 2015: Zoom To Be The Big Bad For The Flash Season 2

At the panel today, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg let it be known that Zoom is going to be the big bad for Season 2… and he is faster than the Reverse-Flash.

Wally West will also be making his way to Central City but no casting was mentioned. Plus we’ll be seeing characters from Earth-2 as it’s the home of Jay Garrick.

We will also be picking up on the reveal during the season finale that Cisco Ramon was a metahuman. We’ll see him continue to change as the season progresses.

As for Dr. Harrison WellsTom Cavanagh is still in the show and he says that the writers want to continue to play with the duality of a character that is both good and bad.

We can also confirm more Gorilla Grodd, Captain Cold and Golden Glider in the new season.
