The TARDIS returned to the Royal Albert Hall on 13 July 2013, just in time for the first of twoDoctor Who Proms held on the opening weekend of the 2013 BBC Proms season.
The two Proms were celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who and fortunately passed without major incident, despite the presence of Daleks, Cybermen and more of the the timelord’s most dangerous adversaries.
Fortunately, for the protection of all of those attending the sold-out events, The Doctor (Matt Smith) and his companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) were in attendance, as well as Peter Davison (the fifth incarnation of The Doctor) and Carol Ann Ford (the first Doctor’s companion).
The concert itself saw Ben Foster conduct the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and theLondon Philharmonic Choir in performances of some of Murray Gold‘s Doctor Who soundtrack, as well as other music from the series, including the Habanera from Bizet‘s Carmen Suite No. 2, Debussy‘s La fille aux cheveux de lin and Bach‘s Toccata and Fugue in D minor. There was also a performance of a song composed by winners of a Doctor Who ’Create a Soundtrack’ competition for schoolchildren.
